Bethlehem Lutheran Church together with its Hmong members is celebrating nearly 10 years as partners.  Hmong members are served fulltime in English by Rev. Nathan Raddatz as well as Hmong elders in Hmong during the Divine Service.  Exciting times are in the works as Bethlehem is partnering with the Minnesota South District and churches around the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod to call a Hmong pastor soon!

In the meantime, Rev. Nathan Raddatz has begun to learn the Hmong language through classes at the University of Minnesota and soon Metropolitan State University.  He will not be the fulltime Hmong pastor, but will take the learning out into the neighborhoods to address critical spiritual questions and concerns.

In June (2008), an exciting change took place.  The organ began to lead the Hmong in singing the hymns.  The Hmong have their own hymnal produced by Concordia Publishing House (CPH).

Lou Hang is the church president.  He is the second Hmong member to serve as church president.  Lou brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from various banking and consulting postions as well as the past fulltime executive director of The Hmong Chamber of Commerce.  He also gives the Hmong members greater visibility and voice in the direction and future of the church.

Mani Vang is the chairperson for JOY Academy, the Lutheran Day School, which Bethlehem started in 2009.  She also brings to the table a close relationship to many families in the Hmong community and an expertise from the Human Resource field in both public and private business.
