Elder’s Retreat

January 29th & 30th

The Rev. Matthew Harrison, the executive director of LCMS World Relief/Human Care will be the presenter for the 4th Elder’s Retreat at Concordia University-St. Paul on Friday, January 29th and Saturday, January 30th, 2010.  Zion Lutheran Church, Morris, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Lakefield and Bethlehem Lutheran Church, St. Paul are sponsoring the retreat. 
 
Rev. Harrison’s presentation to pastors, elders and church leaders will include the biblical foundation, historical functions and present day realities of being an elder.  
 
The Elder’s Retreat, which is held biannually continues to grow as participants from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Illinois gather at Concordia University. The registration fee is $35.00 per person until January 5, 2010 and $45.00 thereafter.

Biography: Prior to his call to LCMS World Relief and Human Care, Rev. Harrison served for more than a decade as a parish pastor in Westgate, Iowa, and Fort Wayne, Ind. During his pastorate at Zion in Fort Wayne, his parish embarked on a now nationally recognized neighborhood revitalization effort which continues to bear much fruit.
Rev. Harrison graduated in 1989 with a Master of Divinity degree and in 1991 with a Master of Sacred Theology (STM) degree from Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Ind. He is presently pursing a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Mo.
He resides in Ballwin, Mo., with his wife Kathy and their two sons.
