Who are we?

We have been a part of the east side of St. Paul since 1887.  Our congregation began as a German immigrant church, but we have been doing our best to meet the needs of our neighbors, we are called to share the love and forgiveness of Christ with others.  Bethlehem is affiliated with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS).  Our goal is to share the love of Christ with our community.

What is the Grace Upon Grace Class?

Grace Upon Grace is a free 12-week course on basic Christian teachings provided by Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church as a service to our community.

Who will be teaching the class?

Pastor Douglas Wanderer will be teaching this Grace Upon Grace class.  Pastor Wanderer is a graduate of Concordia Theological Seminary, in Fort Wayne, IN.  He served a dual parish for twenty-one years in rural North and South Dakota.  He has been serving as pastor of Bethlehem Lutheran Church since April of 2017. 

How do I register for the class?

There are two easy ways to register for the Grace Upon Grace class.  1.) Call the church phone number (651) 776-4737, and leave a message on the Church office voicemail.  2.)  You may also email Pastor Wanderer at dlplanatas@rrt.net and include “Grace Upon Grace” on the subject line.

When do we meet?

What should I bring?

If you have your own Bible, you are welcome to bring it, but we will provide one for you.

Week 2: Who is God?

Week 3: Sin, what is it?  And what did it do and how does it affect us?

Week 4: The Ten Commandments (The Law)

Week 5: The Gospel

Week 6: What is the Christian faith?  (The Creed)

Week 7: The Ministry of Jesus (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John)

Week 8: What is baptism?

Week 9: What is confession?

Week 10: The Lord’s Supper

Week 11: What is going to happen in the future?

Week 12: What do Lutherans believe?  – Denominational differences/ Lutheran Worship.
